Chona’s Marani Kisi 2023 from the Tsinandali microzone in the Kakheti region is crafted in qvevri and offers a deep, structured, and authentic expression of this highly aromatic native grape. Its amber hue reflects extended skin contact and natural extract, while the 14% alcohol is seamlessly integrated into its full structure, giving the wine balance and quiet power. The aromatic profile opens with intense notes of apricot, pear, and quince, bringing ripeness and depth, while layers of yellow fruit add richness and complexity. On the palate, it is complex and textural, with gentle yet defined tannins that give the wine seriousness and aging potential, leading to a long, structured finish. Its full body and tannic structure make it an excellent match for roasted white meats, slow-braised chicken with spices, grilled vegetables, and medium-bodied cheeses. From Georgian cuisine, it pairs especially well with chakapuli, a lighter-style satsivi, oven-roasted pumpkin, and grilled eggplant with a restrained walnut touch.
