From the hills of Vartsikhe in western Georgia, this unexpected take on Malbec shows the grape in a new light — soft, refined, and deeply expressive. Crafted by a small family winery, Barbale's Malbec 2022 offers elegance, regional nuance, and artisanal charm.

Ruby in color, the wine opens with a fragrant bouquet of red forest berries — raspberry, blackberry, and red currant. On the palate, it’s velvety and supple, with ripe tannins and a gracefully flowing structure that leads to a lingering, polished finish.

Produced using the classic method and unfiltered, this wine delivers authenticity and individuality — a rare Malbec with a distinctly Imeretian soul.

Vartsikhe, a lesser-known microzone in Imereti, is traditionally white-wine territory — but here, Malbec finds surprising harmony, developing soft tannins, fresh acidity, and dark berry character shaped by the region’s mild climate and mineral soils.
